The city council decided to create them on the surface of the Turia River, which gives its name to the city, because there was a great flood in 1957 and the authorities decided to divert it.

Others, such as the Puente del Mar, have changed their functionality over time: originally served as a way to connect the city with the port. It was not until 1933 when it became pedestrian.

The Turia Gardens are known as the green lung of Valencia, a figure that would be much needed today in other cities of our country that are being hit by pollution problems.
